PROMOTIONAL FILM AND STILLS

CLIENT: LORETTO SCHOOL

DATE: MARCH 2019

LOCATION: MUSSELBURGH, SCOTLAND

One of the top private schools in Scotland, Loretto School recently committed to expanding their educational offering by launching a new Pre-School.

Helmworks Film produced a series of short 2-minute films to promote the launch on the Loretto website, as well as an extended, 9-minute cut of all three films back to back, designed to be shown to prospective parents on the Open Day.

Working with the children was fantastic fun - they were naturals in front of the camera! It was important to tell the story from their point of view, which meant frequently low-slung gimbal shots to shoot at their eye-level, and a big focus on movement throughout the films.

After two days of filming on-location, it was imperative that the films were finished in time for the upcoming Loretto School Open Day - which would mark the official launch of the Pre-School. It was important that the Loretto School ethos and tone-of-voice was consistent throughout, and through a complex and fast-paced review process, we worked with the school’s marketing team to cut down several hours of interview and “B-roll” (cutaway) footage into three concise, 2-minute films. (One of the interviews we cut down was originally over an hour long!)

As well as motion content, we also provided high-resolution colour-graded film stills for use in the new Loretto School Pre-School printed prospectus. Some of these images can be viewed below, as well as photographs of the completed prospectus...

Testimonial

Professional, smart, agile, with a true creative flair – that could be the motto of Helmworks Film. In addition to meeting our very tight deadline and expertly managing the project from A to Z, we really valued Helmworks Film’s agile way of working. This enabled them to promptly and efficiently respond to changes in our project planning, which often occurs in projects involving different stakeholders.

Lorimer has a talent for quickly understanding the messages you want to communicate and for capturing the images and scenes which perfectly translate these on screen. Lorimer is also a people’s person and knows how to ease the sometimes difficult challenge of being in front of a camera. We’re very pleased with the great video Helmworks Film has delivered and we’re looking forward to working with them again in future projects.
